Clothing Bank at UMCS

The women of UMW’s Ruth’s Circle, along with other volunteers, gather weekly on Wednesday from noon-4 to work at the free clothing store in the United Methodist Children’s Services, 3940 W Lisbon Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53208 (click here for map).

We collect gently used clothing. (You may drop off clothing donations in the barrel marked “UMCS” outside the church elevator or call me to schedule a pick-up.)

Each Wednesday some volunteers work “behind the scenes” sorting, washing and hanging the clothes; while others work directly with the customers in the clothing bank.  Toiletries are also distributed in the store.  Donations of soap, shampoo, deodorant, diapers, toilet paper and other hygiene products are collected in the basket under the UMW table. Cash donations for the purchase of toiletries are always welcome.

Anyone who expresses a need for clothing or toiletries may shop in the store, at no cost, once a month. As volunteers in the clothing bank we strive to love, care and serve.

All are welcome to volunteer in this ministry. You do not have to be a member of Ruth’s Circle to volunteer. If you’d like to carpool on Wednesday please let us know.  Carpool departs from our church at 11:30.
